I'm going to leave this page up rather than think of all these items every year.

Karen Mahoney and I (Nancy Downing) as well as Deb Pare are now chairing the Craft Department for our upcoming 4H Fair, August 22-24.  Some new things are happening!

What’s new?  Below is a listing of the various lots you can enter, new ones have been added, some combined and some less popular ones have been deleted (but you may still enter them under Miscellaneous).   The description page that was once mandatory with every entry has been eliminated!  We hope that these changes encourage more entries and participants!!!  Each participant will also be entered into a raffle drawing donated by a local business.  So after you’ve read the instructions below and the changes - if you have any questions, please send us an email….

All Woodville Trailbuster exhibitors and their horses will be on the fairgrounds Thursday.  All exhibitors and overnighters from the club will attend the overnighters meeting at the fairgrounds kitchen that night.  All overnighters are expected to pitch in with fairground work duties.  We will have a chart available on the campsite with duties that you are assigned to. This will probably include a large contingent for serving at least one meal at the kitchen. We won't have that schedule til the overnight meeting.

Duties for 4H members could include some public gate entrance work, volunteering at games, help cleaning the kitchen. Older members can work in snack bars.  Parents are expected to help anywhere needed.  (even if you do not have a child showing at the fair; it is a great oppurtunity to help 4H and learn the ropes so that when your child does stay overnight and show you know what might be expected. Any 4H member can and should visit the fair and help out where needed on the fairgrounds. The fair is run by all volunteer labor.

For adults and parents we have the back gate for the weekend again.  This year will probably see more action as the talk is that lot will be available for the general public and not 4H'ers. Night duty and kitchen duty are normally chosen during the overnight meeting.  We also have our schedule for gate duty ringside. The hours are:

Friday

Saturday

Sunday

Extras: For those attending the fair for the first time here are a few other pointers.  If the member has created projects at home or school and would like to submit them for display and competition they need a fair booklet and fill out the paper work for the static exhibit.  There is more to the fair than the horseshow. Members can exhibit art, beef, cage  & game birds, cloverbud, crafts, dairy, dairy goat, displays, dog, environmental awareness, feline, flower, food, food preservation, honey, needlework, photography, poultry, rabbit & Cavy, sewing, sheep, swine, vegetable, fruit and field crops, wool, workshop and writing.  There is also an apple pie contest with the rules listed in the fair book. Static exhibit entries earn money according to the danish rule system and how they score. Depending on how many items you enter and how well you do you can earn a lot through your 4H work.

Activities that can be enjoyed at the fair are the corn husking, pony rides, checking out all the displays and exhibits, moonwalk, hay rides, storytelling, model railroad, Smokey Bear, watermelon eating contest, chicken BBQ, auction, Discovery Museum, Lizzie the clown, paint a face, antique engines, Michelle's Menagerie, Marcia Williams Owls and much much more.
