Missed the last Horse Club Meeting?  Here are some brief updates to get yourself caught up.

March 3rd Meeting:

  • Kelsey opened the meeting with the pledge at 6pm sharp

  • Abby read a report of the treasury

  • So far, only four members are attending the County Awards Night.  Sue, Cory and Kelsey all have room in the cars for more members that can't find a ride

  • Horse Verification Forms are due March 28th to Sue if you want to ride in 4H shows and the fair over the summer; riders and owners need to figure out who is going to the fair as you can have 2 riders, 1 Horselover (2 classes), and 1 Lead-liner (2 classes) on each horse.

  • Those who made the team should consider going to Horse Bowl and Hippology practices for the State competition.  Practices are 6pm to 7:30 for Horse Bowl and 6:30 to 8pm for Hippology at the church in Littleton where the County competition was.  At the first practice (March 2nd) 4 members from Woodville were present- Cory, Kelsey, Abby, and Meghan.

  • At the next meeting, March 17th, each member needs to bring a bag of candy/items for the egg hunt.  The theme for this meeting is "How Much Green"- let's see who can wear the most green!

  • The egg hunt was discussed, and members were reminded to bring candy.  Colleen, Bella, Lillian, Eric, Hailey, Olivia, Brittney, Kelsey B, Julia, Sarah L, Biz, Rose, Anna, Emma, Natalie D, and Lauren S volunteered to be trail guides.  For more information, see "Recent Emails" page under "Egg Hunt"

  • Drill Teams were decided and the first practice for Team A will be right before the March 17th meeting.  Team A members are Kelsey, Lauren, Anna, Biz, Cory, Brianna, Rose, and Abby.  Emma is the alternate.

  • The annual horse show will be on July 18th this year.  Ali D is chairman.

  • At 6:30, the club was split into 2 groups; one learned about jumping in a 3-phase with Elaine, and the other learned about Dressage with Melissa.  At 7:00, the two groups switched to learn about the other event.

February 3rd Meeting

  • The club voted to send $100 to 4H's bake-less bake-sale instead of asking each member to pay $10

  • Since not many people are going to the Skate for the Fairgrounds, the club voted to send $50

  • Sue reminded everyone that dues must be paid by March 1st.  They are $40 per person

  • Sue has forms for the Equine Seminar on February 27th- this is a fun way to learn about horses and meet members form other clubs.

  • Those at the last meeting started making their rhythm necklaces; members who weren't picked colors

  • Elaine taught about the horse heart and cardiovascular system.

January 20th Meeting

  • 22 members were present

  • Several members still need to meet the one meeting per month requirement

  • Some members still need to make up Hippology

  • The Egg Hunt will be April 10th with a rain date of April 11th; Raachel and Lillian are making flyers

  • Elaine discussed supplements

  • Sue discussed rhythm necklaces, and we will be making them at the next meeting

  • Sue won most outrageous PJs!
